Mission Statement
Kingston Community Radio(KCR)
is a not for profit listener supported broadcasting organization. It is
organized to lease "air time" from commercial broadcasting radio
stations to offer the community news and information. Our principle
organizational purpose is educational.
Volunteer hosts interview
guests and take listener telephone calls to discuss various topics of
interest in the community including local, state and national issues. KCR
encourages hosts and listeners to take an active role in offering differing
viewpoints on issues of a public nature. KCR is a non-partisan organization
but would encourage its hosts and listeners to take different viewpoints on topics
to foster an interchange of ideas. No musical entertainment is broadcast
during the hours of KCR's operation, only information that the Federal
Communications Commission would categorize as Public Affairs Programming.
KCR programming is airing
weekdays between 7am and 9am on WGHQ, AM 920, in Kingston, NY.
The "air time" is leased from Pamal Broadcasting
by donations from the public and program underwriters. Kingston Community Radio has
received notification from the Internal Revenue Service that it qualifies as
a public foundation as a 501(c)3 organization.
